“GRAB THE HAND OF JESUS CHRIST!”

Pastor Gilberto Rodriguez could literally feel the fear in the hospital room – it was that strong. He had been called to the hospital to pray for a young man who had been thrown from a car. The young man was in a coma, with massive head injuries and tubes coming out from several vital organs of his body. He was not expected to live through the night.

“Lord, help me to pray!” Pastor Gilberto, an LCU graduate, cried out. “He doesn’t need me, he needs You!” Suddenly the presence of Jesus came into that hospital room. Pastor Gilberto told the young man, “Grab the hand of Jesus Christ! He will pull you out. He says you’re not going to die!”

The young man had been agitated, but suddenly you could see him relax. Later, as Pastor Gilberto started to leave, the young man, though seemingly still in a coma, reached out and grabbed Pastor Gilberto’s arm and would not let go. Pastor Gilberto told him, “I know you don’t want me to leave, but the One you need is going to stay.” The young man relaxed his grip.

Then the Lord Jesus began to give Pastor Gilberto the details of his future recovery, how quickly he would be released from the hospital, that there would be nothing wrong with his mind, that he would have a fulfilled life, and even be married soon! Pastor Gilberto wrote these details down exactly as Jesus gave them.

And, glory to God! Everything came to pass, just as the Lord Jesus said. The young man recovered quickly, was totally restored mentally, and is now married with children. Hallelujah!

Using the authority of the believer

My mother suddenly suffered a seizure and collapsed. She was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. I laid hands on her and prayed. I then went about comforting my father who was understandably beside himself. He quietly said, “We’re going to go down fighting.”

I replied, “Dad, we're not going down.” In that moment, this man who had so viciously rejected my Christian beliefs over the years latched onto my faith and was encouraged.

In the rehab hospital, my mother’s recovery moved at a phenomenal pace. Instead of two weeks of "acute rehab," she was discharged to go home in three days!

The icing on the cake: my father received the Lord the night before my mother went in for surgery!!! The principles I learned in the “Authority of the Believer” course adjusted my mindset towards life in Christ.
